Dipotassium Phosphate appears as white crystals or powder. It is the dipotassium salt of phosphoric acid, is hygroscopic, and has no odor. DKP is very soluble in water and slightly soluble in alcohol.

Dipotassium Phosphate is used as a buffering agent and sequestrant, ingredient of “instant” fertilizers, nutrient for penicillin culturing, humectant, corrosion inhibitor and anti-scaling agent, metal surface cleaner, buffer in antifreeze, pH adjuster, and laboratory reagent. It is also used as a solids separation agent, surface active agent, processing aid, intermediate, lubricant and lubricant additive.

Use caution when handling/transferring. Wear appropriate personal protective equipment. This product is irritating to eyes, respiratory system, and skin. Do not get in eyes, on the skin, or on clothing. Use only with adequate ventilation. Eyewash facilities and an emergency shower must be available when handling this product. Observe good industrial hygiene practices. Store in a cool, dry, well-ventilated place. Avoid contact with strong oxidizing agents. If the product comes in contact with skin or eyes, wash off immediately with plenty of water for 15 – 20 minutes.
