Potassium Hydroxide is used in the production of agricultural-grade fertilizers. It is used to manufacture soft soaps, for pH control, as a precursor to other potassium compounds, as an electrolyte, and in other niche applications. It has a variety of useful functions as a strong chemical base.
Caustic Potash is a corrosive chemical, which is normally handled in either steel, nickel, nickel alloys, or certain types of plastic equipment. Do not store in an aluminum container, as flammable hydrogen gas may be generated. Store in a cool, dry, well-ventilated area. Avoid breathing dust. Causes severe skin burns and eye damage. Do not get in the eyes, on the skin, or on clothing. Wash skin and contaminated clothing thoroughly after handling. Wear appropriate personal protective equipment. This product is exothermic. Heat is generated when in contact with water. Always add the flake slowly to the water while stirring to minimize heat generation; never add water to the product.
