Sodium Carbonate / Soda Ash is most commonly used in the manufacture of glass, where it reduces the melting temperature of the sand used in glass formation and helps in the ‘workability’ or shaping of glass articles such as tableware and float glass. It is also used for making soaps and detergents, in the production of chemicals, in pulp and paper manufacture, and in water treatment including the treatment of effluent. It is a good source of alkalinity for pH adjustment.
