Acetic Acid is a colorless, corrosive liquid with a strong, pungent odor like vinegar. This product is the undiluted (anhydrous) form of Acetic Acid. It is the second simplest carboxylic acid, and a useful industrial chemical due to its solvent and miscibility properties.
Acetic Acid is commonly used industrially as a solvent and for production of other chemicals. It is used in production of plastics, pharmaceuticals, dyes, insecticides, silk, rayon, perfume, and etc. It has disinfectant properties and is used for a variety of medical applications. It is widely used by the food industry for commercial pickling operations, and production of condiments. It is used as coagulating agent in the rubber industry. The largest use of Acetic Acid is for production of other chemicals: vinyl acetate monomer (VAM), acetic anhydride, acetic esters, cellulose acetate, and chloroacetic acid. Other applications include: latex coagulant, oil-well acidizer, textile printing.
Liquid and vapor of this product are flammable. Keep away from sparks, flames or other sources of heat. Keep container tightly closed. Ground/bond container and receiving equipment. Use only non-sparking tools. Do not breathe vapors. Wear appropriate protective clothing/gloves/eye protection. Wash face, hands, and any exposed skin thoroughly after handling. If acid comes in contact with skin or eyes, wash immediately with plenty of water for at least 15 minutes. Seek medical attention immediately. Please see Acetic Acid, Glacial Safety Data Sheet for full safety and compatibility information.
