About Us

Established in 1981, CORECHEM Inc. is a third-generation, family-owned chemical distribution and manufacturing company headquartered in Knoxville, Tennessee.

The company was originally founded by Mr. Edwin Sherrod, an analytical chemist who worked in Oak Ridge at the onset of the nuclear age. Mr. Sherrod passed away in 2016 at the age of 90. His passion for the business remained throughout his entire life, as he continued to attend sales meetings from his wheelchair up until just weeks before his passing. His son, Mr. Jon Sherrod, is our current President; and his grandson, Wesley Sherrod, is the General Manager.

TEAM CORECHEM

We currently employ a staff of over 40 employees with 150+ years of combined industry knowledge and experience. We look forward to adding to our amazingly diverse team as we work to continue our CORE purpose of ‘helping people and supporting our communities’.

CORECHEM Inc. has a strong commitment to serving the community. Through ongoing contributions and volunteer work, we continue to support the Rapid Relief Team. This organization facilitates relief efforts with community outreach measures in times of need. Employees have assisted with both proactive and reactive relief efforts in Tennessee & surrounding areas. RRT events in the area have included: the assembling and distribution of food boxes to the homeless, and meal preparation and delivery to those affected by natural disasters such as the Gatlinburg fires (2016), Kentucky tornado relief (2021), Hurricane Helene relief (2024), and more.
