Diacetone Alcohol appears as a colorless liquid with a faint, minty odor. It is a versatile solvent that has a slow evaporation rate, low viscosity, and is soluble with most organic substances. DAA offers low toxicity, low volatility, and good stability.

Applications of this chemical include: solvent for nitrocellulose, cellulose acetate, various oils, resins, waxes, fats, dyes, tars, lacquers, coating compositions, wood preservatives, stains, rayon and artificial leather, imitation gold leaf, dyeing mixtures, antifreeze mixtures, extraction of resins and waxes, preservative for animal tissue, metal-cleaning compounds, hydraulic compression fluids, stripping agent (textiles).
The liquid and vapor of this product are flammable. Keep away from heat, sparks, open flames, or other heat sources. No smoking. Use only outdoors or in a well-ventilated area. Avoid breathing vapors. Avoid contact with skin. Wash face, hands, and any exposed skin thoroughly after handling. Wear the appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) while handling. Vapors may cause a flash fire or ignite explosively. Prevent the buildup of vapors or gases to explosive concentrations. Keep the container tightly closed.
