Iron (III) Sulfate is used in municipal and industrial water and wastewater treatment for the removal of turbidity, color, suspended solids, and phosphorus; sludge conditioning, compaction, and volume reduction; oily wastewater clarification and dissolved air flotation; and emulsion breaking.

This material is corrosive and causes severe skin burns and eye damage. Wear protective gloves, protective clothing, eye protection, and face protection when handling this material. Wash face, hands, and any exposed skin thoroughly after handling. Do not eat, drink, or smoke when using this product. Use only with adequate ventilation. Do not breathe mist, vapors, or spray. Keep the material in the original container. Do not store in metal containers. Store in a cool, dry, well-ventilated place. Avoid contact with incompatible materials (strong acids, strong bases, strong oxidizers, metals), as well as direct sunlight.
