Potassium Permanganate NSF (KMnO₄ / CAS: 7722‑64‑7) is a strong oxidizing agent used in a variety of industrial and environmental applications. It is used in water treatment processes to oxidize and facilitate removal of dissolved metals such as iron and manganese from raw water sources, as well as to address sulfur‑related odors through chemical oxidation. It is also used in wastewater treatment for the oxidation of organic and inorganic compounds. Additional applications include use as a reagent in organic synthesis and for controlled oxidation processes in industrial and laboratory settings.
