DOWFLAKE™ Xtra 83-87% is a purified inorganic salt produced by removing water from a naturally occurring brine solution. It appears as white, deliquescent flakes, and is soluble in water and alcohol. A higher concentration than conventional 77 – 80% Calcium Chloride Flake provides a lower application rate. It is hygroscopic, which means that it absorbs water from the air even to the point of converting to liquid brine.

DOWFLAKE™ Xtra 83-87% is used for snow and ice control, dust control, road base stabilization, and concrete acceleration. For use in ice control, it can be mixed with rock salt, sand, and gravel to improve their performance. It works to control dust by absorbing moisture from its surroundings, keeping the surface damp and binding dust particles to the gravel. When added to concrete, it will reduce the time for the initial and final set, increase early strength, and protect in cold weather. It may be put into a solution for use in many other applications.
Store in a cool, dry, well-ventilated place. Tightly reseal the package after each use. Store away from incompatible materials. Use caution when handling/transferring. Wear appropriate personal protective equipment. Causes skin and eye irritation. Wash face, hands, and any exposed skin thoroughly after handling.
