Hydrofluorosilicic acid (HFS) has a variety of applications, including:
- Water Fluoridation: It is commonly used to fluoridate drinking water, helping to prevent dental cavities.
- Sterilization: HFS is used to disinfect copper and brass vessels. It is also used to sterilize bottling and brewing equipment (1-2% solution).
- Electroplating: It plays a role in the electroplating process, enhancing the quality and durability of metal coatings.
- Glass Etching: HFS is utilized in the etching of glass, providing precise and clean cuts.
- Concrete Treatment: It is used to treat concrete, improving its durability and resistance to wear.
- Ceramics: It is used to increase hardness.

- Manufacturing: It is involved in the production of aluminum fluoride, synthetic cryolite, and hydrogen fluoride.
