Behind the Bottle: What it Takes to Package Your Favorite Perfumes and Products

This month we had the opportunity to sit down with Tee Sikarng, our bottling line supervisor, and Nyoua Moua, one of our bottling line operators! We covered what a day in the life of a bottling line operator looks like, and what work goes on behind the scenes to support the production of your favorite perfumes and products!

How does the bottling line get started?

Every morning, our bottling line team starts the day by reviewing an F&A (Fill & Assembly) sheet. This document serves as a roadmap for the day, providing all the essential information our team needs to ensure each product is assembled and packaged correctly. Details on the F&A are supplied by the customer, and it includes information such as:

  • Product and packaging specifications
  • Materials & components being used
  • Pallet configuration
  • Assembly instructions
  • Photos of materials
  • Label & lot # placement on bottles & boxes

Once the team has reviewed the F&A, we inspect all the components that go into making each product, from the bottle, sprayer, and cap, to any additional accessories. After confirming that everything matches the specifications outlined in the F&A, we move on to the first pass. Think of this as a final readiness check for the production line! An operator and a team lead work together to verify that all equipment and components are functioning properly and meet our quality standards. Once both have completed their checks and signed off, the line is ready to start production!

Who makes up the bottling line?

Our bottling line team is made up of our operators, who work together across several different positions, that include loading bottles, inserting sprayers, capping, and more. But here’s the thing: no one is assigned to just one job! Every team member is trained to work in each position, allowing us to switch things up and keep the line running smoothly as production needs change. Of course, everyone has their favorite positions, and a few they might not be as excited about!

How do you switch between products?

At CORECHEM, we serve a wide variety of customers! One day we could be bottling perfume, and the next, working on a cleaning solution. How do we handle switching gears safely and effectively? This may involve a change of bottle size, labeling, and even cap size.

We begin with washing out our containers with hot water, alcohol, or distilled water. These washes are incredibly thorough to make sure our chemistry stays pure every single time. Once we’re ready to house the actual product, we move onto adjusting the specs of our machinery to accommodate whatever size bottle we’re switching to. This can be something as small as 4 ounces, all the way up to 1 gallon.

A lot goes on behind the bottle!

From reviewing daily production sheets to working together on the bottling line and carefully switching between products, there’s a lot more that goes into packaging your favorite products than you might think! Every step requires teamwork, flexibility, and attention to detail to ensure each product is packaged safely and consistently.
